Sydney Schaefer is a Northern New York transplant by way of Philadelphia. About six years ago, she fell in love with photography the old school way—35mm film.
Currently, she is working as a staff photographer at the Watertown Daily Times in Watertown, New York, where she documents the North Country community.
She's a recent graduate of Temple University's Klein College of Media and Communication in Philadelphia, where she received a Bachelor's degree in journalism. During the spring 2018 semester, Sydney also worked as the visuals editor for a solutions journalism-based course at Temple called Covering Addiction. Throughout the semester, she visually directed ten longform solutions-based pieces about addiction, including her own, which was published as one cohesive project in May 2018. The project was recognized for its excellence by Philadelphia Inquirer metro columnist Mike Newall.
